This Foundation is built on prayer and lots of it. Although we are not a religious organization, this foundation has been the idea from a higher source.
My son asked me, why do you do this? I said, I am not sure. I feel called to do it. Why would a stay at home mom from East Bloomington start a foundation? No experience, no foundation starting education, and children not even at Kennedy yet when I started the process.
I guess when you are called to something you go after it. I have no idea how this foundation will come together in the end. But I do know this, in 10 months we went from simple talks with passionate parents and Kennedy staff to becoming a 501c3 Non-profit with our first 5K happening soon.
A special thank you to Tom Kendall who was my mentor and encourager as I had many questions through emails, texts and phone calls when I began.
Thank you to the Jags Foundation (Jefferson High School) for your support and for giving us the blue print to start the Bloomington Kennedy Activities Foundation.
We need lots of support and encouragement from our community, our families, and friends.
BKAF is not just for some, BKAF is for YOU. No matter where you are financially think of us as a hand up! We are here for ALL families and students.
