The focus of the Bloomington Kennedy Activities Foundation (BKAF) is to fund and support any and all activities/athletics at Kennedy High School. We are here to financially assist any student, coach, booster club, teacher, and family regardless of their financial status. Think of us as a hand up, not a handout.
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization fully run by volunteers who have a passion for the Bloomington community that is served by Kennedy High School. Our goal is to ensure that every student who wants to play a sport or be involved in an activity can do so. Although no child is turned away from an activity or sport at Kennedy High School, the cost to play, perform, or remain in a program can become a financial burden. This burden then goes back on the program’s booster club or families. With program funding being cut again for 2019 school year, we know this foundation will be an asset to the Kennedy community.
The Bloomington Kennedy Activities Foundation team of volunteers includes a salesperson, an accountant, a teacher, and a work from home mom. They are members of the Kennedy family who have been actively involved in all aspects of athletics and activities for many years. We look forward to working with families in a foundation created for everyone!
Our Mission is to provide supplemental financial backing for KHS athletics and activities in order to elevate programs so they can develop, grow and be made available to anyone wanting to participate.
Bloomington Kennedy Activities Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to renew community and school, and to refresh the activities programs to make it affordable for all participants. Through financial contributions from organizations and individuals, all participants will be provided an opportunity to be successful. The goal of Kennedy Foundation is to be a support to all school approved activities regardless of participants’ ability to fundraise or to contribute financially.
Over a period of several years, the cost of activities has increased. This has put pressure on individual teams and parents to raise funds and/or increase individual team booster club fees in order to cover required expenses not provided for by the school district. At the same time, Kennedy has seen an increase in the number of students whose families do not have discretionary income or time.
We expect this trend to continue.
Bloomington Kennedy Activities Foundation is a tax exempt charitable corporation, organized to raise funds principally in the name of Kennedy Activities Group. Kennedy Foundation will also promote activities in the Kennedy community, and provide funding to enhance its programs.
